Hohenschönhausen Lichtenburg Colour

The whole area around the prison closed to the public.  1951-1989.

Cells in the basement.  Outside cells too cold, inside cells too warm.  No sitting down, leaning agains the wall or lying on the bed.  Round the corner is the water torture chamber room.

Courtyard only seen by officials. Some even used to have picnics here!

Tiger cages for outdoor exercise.

Alte National Museum

Refused the headphones.  Such a load of drivel.  Looking at boring paintings.  Being spoken at by monologues.  Try to find something good.

A fantastic jumper steals the show.  The hair stands like antennae.  The concentration intense.

Thank goodness for the Impressionists!

And lovely gold rimmed door frames.

Coffee served inefficiently in the bookshop.  Small square tables.  Fake sculptures watching from their shelves.  Who buys them?

Alte National Museum Black and White

More dull paintings.  More of that jumper.

More of that hair.  Not a very popular room.

Gerhard Richter: 18. Oktober 1977.  A popular room.

Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp

Camp wall.  Innocent.  Those passing by ignored the screams.

 Main Entrance.  Zone A.

View through to Zone Z.

The ideal camp.  Equilateral triangle. One guard house, all avenues visible.

Corpse Chamber.

 Ramp from Corpse Chamber.

Hospital.  Experiments.

Single person cell.  Solitary confinement for weeks on end.

Empty spaces now where rows of huts once stood.

Parade ground. Every morning.  Everyone accounted for.  Soviet liberation memorial.

Zone Z.  Gas.  Bullet through back of head. Incinerators.

Shooting range.  Not efficient enough.

Zone Z.  Memorial.

1936-1945 - Concentration camp, mostly political prisoners (200,000 interned)
1945-1950 - Soviet Special camp No.1, mostly politcal prisoners (60,000 interned)

Altes Museum

Cleopatra V11 (69-30BC), last Ptolemaic Queen of Egypt.  Watched by Julius Ceasar (100-44BC), Dictator of Rome.
 Classical sculptures. Revealling all.
